We used to be in sync, our hands clasped together and our feet dangling as we flew back and forth over the earth. Our laughter sang the song in our hearts and our hair danced to the winds beat.
Now though, we sat listlessly on the old swings, swaying just slightly. The only sound was not of our laughter but the groan of the set caused by our added weight. Our hands only clasped their twins in a white knuckled grip in our laps. Our hair no longer danced but became tangled in the irksome breeze. We no longer flew. Our lives were grounded in reality.
Another person could easily fit between us, just as easily as the years had slipped in and separated us.
We said nothing, eyes never meeting but watching the memories of days long gone.
